Emberfall Chronicles

Emberfall Chronicles is a compact role-playing game that respects your time. Battles are turn-based and quick, menus are clean, and you can play a meaningful chunk in a single commute. The writing does the heavy lifting here; the companions have real personalities and the small side quests often land harder than the main plot.

Combat opens up once you mix elemental skills with timed guards, and the difficulty curve never felt unfair. My only gripe is that the map can get a little cluttered with markers late on, but that's a minor thing in an otherwise generous game.
