Mobile RPGs that don't swallow your life
The reputation of mobile RPGs is grind and gates, but a quieter group of games proves it doesn't have to be that way. Emberfall Chronicles is my current example of doing it right.
What makes these games work on a phone is bite-sized progress. Battles resolve quickly, saving is instant, and story beats land often enough that you feel like you're moving forward even in a ten-minute sitting.
I also appreciate when an RPG trusts its writing over its systems. A party you care about keeps you coming back more reliably than a stat you're chasing.
If you've bounced off mobile RPGs before because of the grind, try one that advertises a finite story. The relief of an actual ending is underrated.
